Phyllis "PEPSI" J. Lachowyn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 15 to Oct. 16, 2022.
On Monday, October 10, 2022, Phyllis Jean Lachowyn, well-known as "Pepsi," devoted mother of four, grandmother to seven, and great-grandmother to seven, peacefully passed away at home, lovingly surrounded by her family. Pepsi was 87.

Pepsi was preceded in death by her parents Mary E. Bolitz Charnisky and Steve A. Charnisky, her brother Richard S. Charnisky, her sister Marlene Reeves, her former husband John Lachowyn, and daughter Joyce M. Ralph.

Pepsi is survived by her sister Mary Ann Price (Scott), her daughters: Janice Christopher, Naples, Florida, Laureen Suspenski, Amherst, Ohio, and Lynnette Young (Wayne), Grass Valley, California, son-in-law Tom Ralph, Lorain, Ohio; as well as her grandchildren, Megan Christopher, Lauren Christopher, Wade Cox, Julia Henderson (Eric Berlin), Jonathan Ralph (Karen Makkos), Reid Young and Ashley Young (Skylar Lightfoot); and her great-grandchildren Andrew Wimberly, Wade Cox, Jr., Mark Cox, Tyler Henderson, Blake Henderson, Rhys Berlin, and Logan Ralph.

Pepsi actively served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Altar Linen Society member, a member of the Bingo Team, and with the Marian Guild while a parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain, Ohio, She actively served in various local and State PTA roles, and received numerous awards for her participation while her children were in school. For many years, she worked and served as the Administrative Assistant to Father James D. Schorr, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, in Elyria, Ohio, before retiring and moving to Naples, Florida. In Florida, Pepsi was active as a parishioner at St. Agnes Catholic Church, in the Charismatic Prayer Group as a Core Team Leader and as a member in Bible Study, and on the Peace and Justice Committee.

Pepsi was a very loyal prayer giant, who initiated, developed and continued to promote an email Prayer Tree of over 10,000 devoted prayer warriors who believe in the power of prayer as she did, and who faithfully pray daily for the well being and benefit of those intentions and needs brought to her and her team's attention. Pepsi originally initiated the Prayer Tree when she was first professed into the Third Order of Franciscans.

Pepsi was her daughters', her daughter's friends', and her grandchildren's best advocate. She regularly attended all of their activities/athletic events. All who attended any of these events will remember her for the cow bell she rang with joy and enthusiasm, and for her shouts of encouragement! She loved playing Bingo, Keno and visiting the slot machines for small change play. She was so generous with her time, her funds and her love. Above all else, she loved her family and was very welcoming and helpful to anyone who crossed her path. Pepsi will be dearly missed, but we all, know she is well on her way "Home".
